The City Tennis Center
The City Tennis Center opened a traditional children's summer training camp. Within two weeks the young athletes will undergo training sessions at the outdoor courts, courses in general physical training, and also lessons on theory of big tennis.
The City Tennis Center of Novokuznetsk was opened in 2010 with the support of the company "NefteChemService". During this time there was about forty tournaments of different categories, which were attended by children from all over Russia and Europe in the age from 6 to 18 years. During the work of the Center the rank of the tournaments increased from the level 7 to the level 2 indicating the high quality equipment of the courts and personnel training.
Thanks to the financial support of JSC "NefteChemService" the City Tennis Center has the possibility to systematically train the coaching staff and to invite the honored coaches of Russia for master classes. Lessons for the tennis beginners of Novokuznetsk were given by Mikhail Youzhny, his coach Boris Sobkin and Sergey Stakhovsky.
In may 2012 the Centre entered into a 5-year agreement with the Federation of Switzerland "Swisstennis" for training coaches according to original programs of the Federation focused on training and development of the youngest athletes. The Federation President Rene Stammbach personally visited the Novokuznetsk Tennis Center and highly appreciated the conditions created for young tennis players in the Kuzbass.
In February 2015, thanks to the support of the company "NefteChemService" and the accumulated experience of the team of The City Tennis Center tennis Federation of Russia it was decided to hold in Novokuznetsk of a European level tournament. Novokuznetsk for the first time in history of the Siberian tennis became the capital of the "Winter European Cup".
Currently, the Center is attended by approximately 350 young athletes in 36 groups including the first group which includes the tennis players taking part in prestigious all-Russian competitions.
At the beginning of the summer season, the Centre traditionally gives the opportunity to play tennis to all willing Novokuznetsk residents providing at their disposal 5 outdoor courts.
